RICE-WN is a local NGO with headquarters in Arua and working in the West Nile, Acholi and Bunyoro sub regions. RICE-WN’s mandate includes empowering communities in areas of community health, Environment and Natural resources, Vocational Skills Training, Sustainable Agriculture and Integrated Humanitarian Response. Currently RICE-WN is seeking applications from WN’s qualified community members to fill the positions below:

  1. Title: Project Officer for Environment and natural resources
    Positions: Two (2)
    Duty Station: Refugees Settlements of Rhino Camp and Imvepi.
    Reports to: Project manager.Qualification and desired qualities:
    Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management, Forestry, Natural resource management and other relevant fields.
    At least two years’ experience in implementing environment related projects preferably Tree planting and promoting energy saving technologies in both communities and Institutions .
    Experience in humanitarian work will be an added advantage.
    Willingness to reside and work in a refugee settlement.
    Ability to ride motorcycles and having a valid riding permit.

Result oriented and excellent team player

Supervising tree planting initiative for refugees and host communities.
Supervising tree nurseries for both fruit trees and wood trees.
Supervising the work of Project Assistants.
Increasing the adoption of renewable energy technologies in refugee and host communities.
Sensitizing communities on environmental protection and use of renewable energy technologies.
Undertake other environment protection exercises.
Compile all reports from project assistants and forward them timely to the project manager.

Participate in partner Coordination meetings organized at the refugee settlement


  1. Title: Project Assistants
    Positions: Two (2)
    Duty Station: Refugee settlements of Rhino Camp and Imvepi.
    Reports to: Project Officer

    Qualification and desired qualities

    A minimum of diploma in environment management, natural resources, and forestry.
    Willingness to reside and work in a refugee settlement.
    Ability to ride motorcycles and having a valid riding permit.
    Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply.

Collaborate with the programme officer to run the environment and energy project.
Distribute tree seedlings to the refugees and host communities.
Look after the tree nursery sites.
work with TOTs to expand adoption of renewable energy technologies.
Work with communities to protect natural tree species.
Write and submit activity reports.

  1. Title: Human Resource Assistant
    Positions: 1
    Duty Station: Head Office
    Reports to Human Resource Officer

    Qualification and qualities:

    A minimum of Bachelor degree in human resource management, Bachelor of Business Administration with human resource management bias and a postgraduate diploma in human resource management.
    A Minimum of three years’ experience in managing human resources with a reputable organization.
    Ability to mentor and counsel all staffDuties:
    Human resource planning, capacity building and retention.
    Tracking human resource performance.
    Advising and mentoring staff.
    support in resource mobilization.
    support in recruitment process.
  2. Title: Volunteer Social worker
    Position: One (1)
    Duty station: Nwoya
    Reports to: Branch CoordinatorQualification and desired qualities
    A minimum of diploma in development studies, social work or community development related discipline.
    Be ready to learn and move to the field.
    Self-motivated and able to work under pressure
    Ability to speak Acholi language.
  3. Title: Guard

Position: One (1)
Duty station: Head Office
Reports to: Finance Manager

Qualifications and desired qualities
A minimum of primary seven results with a certificate in security training.
A minimum of three years’ experience in security guarding with a reputable organization.
A person who can be sober and security conscious at all times.
Ability to move quickly to duty station in case of emergency call.


Safeguard all the assets of the organization.

Check guests of RICE-WN at the entry and exit.
Manages closing and opening of the gate.
Disciplined and cooperative with staff of the organization.
